Big Ten Tournament 2012 Bracket Update: Ohio State Beats Purdue, Advances To Take On Michigan

For the third year in a row, Michigan and Ohio State will meet in the Big Ten tournament. In 2010, Evan Turner ended Michigan's season with a half-court buzzer beater in the quarterfinals. Last year, Ohio State beat Michigan in the semifinals, which is where the two teams will meet this year.

Ohio State advanced to the semifinals with an impressive 88-71 win over Purdue on Friday night. The Buckeyes only led by four at halftime, but they pulled away in the second half en route to the victory. The win meant that the top four seeds advanced to the semifinals of the Big Ten tournament for the first time in its history.

Earlier in the day, Michigan beat Minnesota in overtime, 73-69, to advance to the semifinals for the second year in a row. Michigan was down by six points with only a minute and half left in the game, but a couple of clutch threes sent the game into overtime. In the extra session, Michigan continued with the clutch shooting and won the game as a result.

Saturday will be the third meeting this season between Michigan and Ohio State. The Buckeyes won the first meeting at home by a score of 64-49. More recently, back on Feb. 18, Michigan beat Ohio State at Crisler Center in primetime on ESPN, 56-51.

Saturday's game between the Wolverines and Buckeyes will begin sometime around 4 p.m. ET. First up on Saturday is Michigan State vs. Wisconsin at 1:40 p.m., which will determine the first spot in the Big Ten tournament championship game.
