Only two games on the first day of the second round of the 2012 NCAA tournament produced an upset. Both of them involved teams from the South Region. No. 11 Colorado held off a rally from No. 6 UNLV to pick up the win, and earlier No. 12 VCU edged No. 5 Wichita State by three points to advance to the third round.

No. 3 Baylor def. No. 14 South Dakota State, 68-60
On Friday, No. 2 Duke will take on No. 15 Lehigh and No. 7 Notre Dame will face No. 10 Xavier to determine the final spots in the third round for the East Region.
