Tigers Vs. Yankees: Detroit Closes Series In New York, Looks To Start Winning Streak

After breaking their five-game losing streak by beating the New York Yankees on Saturday, the Detroit Tigers will try to start streaking in a positive direction when the two teams meet again on Sunday afternoon at Yankee Stadium.

Detroit will have their work cut out for them to win the game and take the weekend series since the Yankees will give the ball to ace C.C. Sabathia (2-0). The veteran lefty is coming off of two strong outings in which he pitched past the seventh inning to earn his two wins on the season.

The Tigers will counter with right-hander Max Scherzer (1-2) who is coming off of a loss to the Seattle Mariners in his last outing after giving up 10 hits and five runs in five innings. Scherzer did fare well against the Yankees in the playoffs last season, throwing six scoreless innings so he will certainly try to recreate that magic on Sunday afternoon.

The game is scheduled to start at 1:05 p.m. ET and will be televised on TBS.
