Frozen Four 2012: Ferris State Beats Union To Advance To Title Game

Kyle Bonis put Ferris State ahead of Union, 2-1, with less than five minutes to play in the Frozen Four semifinals, and Aaron Schmit added an empty-net goal with less than a minute remaining to secure a spot in the NCAA Frozen Four final Saturday night.

Union's Daniel Carr scored the game's first goal with about 12 minutes left in the second period, but Bonis struck back with a put-back goal with less than five minutes remaining in the second period to knot the game at one. Bonis' second goal also came off a long rebound in which he was in the right place at the right time and capitalized with a quick, accurate, backhand shot.

Taylor Nelson made 27 saves for the Bulldogs, while Troy Grosenick made 32 saves in the loss.

Ferris State advances to the championship game on Saturday at 7 p.m. EST on ESPN2 to take on the winner of Boston College vs. Minnesota later Thursday night.
