2012 Kentucky Derby Post Positions: I'll Have Another, Hansen Have Tough Draw

I'll Have Another will try to do what no horse has done at Churchill Downs, win from the 19th post position.

The 2012 Kentucky Derby post positions were revealed Wednesday and they did not help the chances of promising horses I'll Have Another and Hansen. Hansen will start from the 14th gate, while I'll Have Another is in the dreaded 19th gate. No horse has ever won the Kentucky Derby at Churchill Downs from the 19th post position.

I'll Have Another has won both of his races in 2012, including the Santa Anita Derby. Hansen, meanwhile, won both the Kentucky Cup and the Breeders' Cup juveniles last year. In the Breeders' Cup, he beat Union Rags, the odds-on favorite leading up to the Kentucky Derby. Only two horses have won the Derby from the 14th gate.
