On Thursday afternoon, the tennis world was shocked when Rafael Nadal was upset by the unseeded Lukas Rosol in the second round of the 2012 Wimbledon Championship, 6-7 (9-11), 6-4, 6-4, 2-6, 6-4. While Rosol is unseeded in the tournament, he is the No. 100 player in the world, which is a far-cry away from Nadal.
Rosol is now the lowest ranked player ever to defeat Nadal in a Grand Slam tournament.
After dropping the first set in a tiebreak, Rosol played the match of his life. He won the second and third sets but it appeared Nadal reclaimed the momentum in the fourth. After a delay to close the roof, though, Rosol came out energized and hit some unbelievable shots to pull off the upset.
