French Open Results 2012: Rafael Nadal Earns Quarterfinal Spot With Ease

On Monday, Rafael Nadal easily coasted to a spot in the men's quarterfinals of the 2012 French Open when he defeated No. 13 Juan Monaco in straight sets 6-2, 6-0, 6-0. Nadal will face countryman Nicolas Amalgro in the next round.

Nadal was taken to break point twice during the match (both of which came in the second set), but Monaco was unable to earn wins in either situation. On the other end of the spectrum, Nadal was 8 of 10 on break point opportunities and won 83 of 126 total points played. With both No. 1 Novak Djokovic and No. 3 Roger Federer struggling in their matches on Sunday, it's safe to assume that Nadal's dominance on Monday will make him the heavy favorite through the rest of the tournament.
