The women's singles final is all set for the 2012 French Open. Saturday's match features a pair of, relative, underdogs as Maria Sharapova, the top ranked women's tennis player in the world, takes on No. 21 Sara Errani on the clay courts of Roland Garros.
Errani's best showing prior to this year's French Open was an appearance in the quarterfinals of the Australian Open this year. She knocked off reigning US Open champ Sam Stosur in the semifinals to advance this far. Errani is riding a hot streak on the clay after winning the women's doubles title along with partner Roberta Vinci.
Sharapova defeated Petra Kvitova in the semifinals to advance and claim the top spot in the rankings. However, she has struggled on clay in the past, and this is her first trip to the finals at Roland Garros.
The women's singles final is scheduled to start at 9:00 p.m. Eastern. Fans can watch it live on NBC.
