Little Caesars Signs 2-Year Deal To Remain Pizza Bowl Title Sponsor

After a moderate scare, budget-savvy pizza chain Little Caesars assured that it will remain on board to sponsor Ford Field's Pizza Bowl by signing a two-year deal on Monday.

Formerly the Motor City Bowl, Little Caesars has been the main sponsor of Ford Field's foray into the college football bowl world for the last three years. Although attendance dipped significantly in 2010 and 2011 after a pair of poor, non-local matchups were put on the field, Purdue's thrilling victory over Western Michigan this past December brought nearly 50,000 fans to the stadium and seemed to offer plenty of hope for future years.

While terms of the deal were not specifically released, it is rumored that the contract is roughly the same as the previous offering, and is likely worth just less than $1 million per year. The 2012 game will pit a Mid-American Conference opponent against a representative from the Big Ten, which will mark only the third time in the bowl's 15-year history where the two nearby conferences have squared off.
