Wimbledon Scores 2012: Maria Sharapova Upset By Sabine Lisicki

Coming off of a win at the French Open, Maria Sharapova entered the 2012 Wimbledon tournament as the world's No. 1 ranked female player. Dominating the the majority of her opponents in her last Grand Slam appearance, Sharapova seemed primed to make a run at the All England Club.

Despite this, Sharapova fell in straight sets to Germany's Sabine Lisicki, allowing the latter to advance to the quarterfinals with a 6-4, 6-3 victory.

Lisicki, the No. 15 seed in the draw, now awaits the winner of the match between Angelique Kerber and Kim Clijsters. Kerber, entering the tournament as the eight seed, won the first set, 6-1, in her bid to advance to the quarterfinals.
