The first two rounds of the 2012 British Open Championship are now a thing of the past, and Brandt Snedeker of the United States leads at 10-under par entering the weekend.
Snedeker became the first man in Open history to card a 10-under score of 130 over 36 holes, but owns just a one-stroke advantage on Australian-born Adam Scott after each man turned in a birdie-filled Friday round.
Though he failed to capitalize on his impressive opening round score of 68, Michigan native and former Michigan Wolverines golfer Justin Hicks carded a 4-over 74 on Friday to tumble down the leaderboard. Nevertheless, Hicks, who is making his first career British appearance, ended up making the cut by two strokes and will begin the weekend in a tie for 51st overall.
Hicks reeled off nine straight pars to open his second round for an even par 34 at the turn, but bogeyed four of his next six holes as the wet conditions clearly took a toll on his game. He will hope to get a leg up on the rest of his competitors with an extremely early start time on Saturday.
