Rockford's Dathan Ritzenhein is in London, set to compete in his third Olympic Games.

To qualify, he finished under the Olympic "A" standard when he placed third in the 10,000 meters at the U.S. Olympic Track and Field Trials in Eugene, Oregon one month ago.

His family will arrive from Michigan on Aug. 2 and Ritzenhein couldn't be more excited, via the Register-Guard.

"You see it on TV back home, and every time you open up a magazine, but to be here right now is awesome," the Rockford, Mich., native said by phone Wednesday from London. "Even at the airport there were people greeting you."

...

"It's hard enough to make one Olympic team, let alone three, so to make three, I'm blessed," Ritzenhein said. "I'm looking forward to it. I'm healthy, and being back on the track again has been really terrific for me."

Ritzenhein will race in the 10,000 meters on Aug. 4. After the Olympics, he will run in the Bank of America Chicago Marathon this fall.
