Despite limited experience in the 1500-meter freestyle, Fair Haven, New Jersey, native Connor Jaeger will be entering the 2012 Olympic games in London with the fifth-fastest time in the world.
After finishing second in the event during the U.S. Olympic Swimming Team Trials at the beginning of July, Jaeger's plan was to continue to work hard prior to traveling to London to represent Team USA. Via Yahoo!:
"All I can do is train my hardest between now and then and follow the plan that the coaches have set up. That's all I can worry about," Jaeger said after qualifying for the 2012 Olympic team. "I need to focus on myself and not worry about what those other guys are doing."
A standout at the University of Michigan, Jaeger specializes in the freestyle/butterfly and was named an All-American in 2012 in addition to the 2012 All-Big Ten First Team.
