Wimbledon 2012: Serena Williams Wins Fifth Wimbledon Title

Serena Williams has made it to the mountaintop once again.

Williams defeated Agnieszka Radwanska, 6-1, 5-7, 6-2, to win the 2012 Wimbledon title, becoming the first 30-year-old to win a Grand Slam since Martina Navratilova in 1990.

Her reaction was filled with joy and relief, a feeling she hadn't felt since 2010 when she won her last grand slam final. After her initial reaction on the court, she ran up into the box to hug her father and sister, Venus, as well as other friends and family.

It was a moment Williams has worked hard to earn yet again. After dropping the second set to Agnieszka Radwanska, Williams re-focused her game, tailed off her aggression and used the skill she has built up over her career to regain control of the match. It was a mature move that Williams, at age 30, can pull out of her bag of veteran tricks.

The win is Williams' fifth Wimbledon title -- the same number as Venus -- and the 14th Grand Slam title of her illustrious career, tying her for third on the all-time list in the Open era.

In that final set, Williams unleashed four consecutive aces that seemed to both calm her down and put doubt into the mind of Radwanska that she could pull off the upset. The four aces were part of the 100 Williams hit over the course of the tournament, a tourney record.
