Tigers Vs. Rangers: Max Scherzer Strikes Out Eight In 6-2 Detroit Victory

A strong performance from Max Scherzer on the hill and a four-run sixth inning propelled the Detroit Tigers to a 6-2 win over the Texas Rangers on Friday night in Arlington.

Scherzer allowed just two earned runs in six innings of work in earning his 11th win of the season, striking out eight Texas batters while walking only two. Prince Fielder was just one for four on the night, but the one hit was a two-run home run in the sixth inning as Detroit turned a 2-1 deficit into a 5-2 lead after tallying four runs in the top of the sixth. The dinger was the 20th of the season for Fielder, and the Tigers first baseman now has 84 runs batted in for the year.

The two teams will square off again on Saturday, with first pitch scheduled for 8:05 p.m. EST from Rangers Ballpark.
