Tigers Vs. Rangers: Justin Verlander Tries To Keep Detroit Winning In Texas

The Detroit Tigers (61-52) play the second game of a three-game weekend series against the Texas Rangers (65-46) on Saturday night at the Rangers Ballpark in Arlington.

Detroit opened the series against the AL West leaders with a 6-2 win on Friday, highlighted by an inside the park home run by Austin Jackson. Ace pitcher Justin Verlander (12-7, 2.51 ERA) will try to build on that momentum with as the projected starter for the Tigers. Verlander has lost his last two road starts but is coming off a solid outing in his last start when he beat the New York Yankees, striking out 14 batters in eight innings.

Texas will try to even the series and build on their lead in the West with projected starter Derek Holland (7-6, 5.18 ERA) on the mound. The left-hander has struggled in his last few starts which includes a loss to Kansas City earlier in the week when he gave up eight hits and six runs in six innings.

The game is scheduled to start at 8:05 p.m. ET and will be televised on Fox Sports Detroit.
