Detroit came up short on Sunday in the third and final game of their series with the Rangers, as Josh Hamilton and company made things difficult on Tigers starter Rick Porcello in an 8-3 defeat.
Though Porcello needed only 90 pitches to last through six innings, the young pitcher scattered nine hits and allowed six runs (four earned) to cross the plate while on the mound. On a day when Miguel Cabrera and Omar Infante combined to provide four of Detroit's six meager hits, Texas pitchers tallied 10 strikeouts against Jim Leyland's swing-and-miss happy lineup.
Next up for the Tigers is a manageable trip to Minnesota for a three-game set with the Twins. Anibal Sanchez will get the ball for Monday's series opener as he aims to put Detroit in the win column for just the second time in its last six games.
