Greg Monroe Ready To Switch Positions For Detroit Pistons

One of these days, the Detroit Pistons could have a nice center combination with Andre Drummond and Slava Kravtsov. To that end, current center Greg Monroe has been getting some work at power forward, according to the Pistons' website.

Monroe, a 6-11 big man from Georgetown heading into his third NBA season, is spending the summer trying something new. He figures to be a big part of the Pistons' plans, having improved greatly last season from his rookie campaign.

Monroe averaged 15.4 points and 9.7 rebounds per game for the Pistons in 2011-2012. He ranked No. 1 in the league in offensive rebounds per 48 minutes, 5.5, and was in the top 10 in field-goal percentage and total rebounds.

Monroe said the team expects at least one of the two centers, Drummond or Kravtsov, to be ready to play extensively this coming season. Monroe has been working out with Drummond and said he's fine with the move, that the positions aren't that different, only the personnel he will guard on defense.
