The Barclays 2012: Tom Gillis In The Hunt

American Tom Gillis is tied for 12th place at The Barclays, and at 4-under the Pontiac, Mich., native stands five shots back of co-leaders Sergio Garcia and Nick Watney.

Gillis, 44, is even through eight holes of golf at Bethpage, and the former Oakland Community College player is tied with Tiger Woods, among others. Meanwhile, Watney has caught Garcia, who began the day at 10-under but has shot 1-over through three holes in the final round of the event.

Also in contention to win the first 2012 playoff event are Americans Kevin Stadler and Brandt Snedeker, who sit two shots back of Garcia and Watney. Dustin Johnson, the 2011 winner of The Barclays, is in a four-way tie at 6-under.

While most of the field still has a ways to go, notable performances thus far on Sunday have come from Australian Jason Day, who shot 5-under through his final round to finish 1-under overall, and Padraig Harrington, who ended the event with a with a 3-under on Sunday to finish 2-under as he recovered from two bad days in a row.
