The first leg of the 2012 FedEx Cup Playoffs is now a thing of the past, as American Nick Watney reigned supreme over a stacked field to win The Barclays on Sunday with a 10-under score.
The 31-year-old entered his fourth and final round with a two-stroke deficit behind leader Sergio Garcia, and benefited from the tricky Sunday conditions while Garcia and a number of contenders struggled to make birdies. Garcia's final round 75 ultimately dropped him off the pace, as the inconsistent Spaniard tied with last year's champion Dustin Johnson for third place at 6-under.
Michigan native Tom Gillis also turned in a strong week in New York with a 3-under overall that put him in a tie for 10th place. Gillis, a graduate of Oakland Community College, could only muster one birdie in his final round after carding a whopping seven on Saturday, but fought through the difficult conditions and pin placements to earn every bit of his top-10 finish.
Here's the final leaderboard.
