Tigers Vs. Yankees: Red-Hot Detroit Team Aiming For 7th Consecutive Victory

With his team peaking at the ideal time, Detroit Tigers manager Jim Leyland will send right-hander Anibal Sanchez to the mound to face off with the Yankees on Wednesday in game three of the series.

Sanchez has put together a respectable 1-1 record with a 4.50 ERA in two starts with the Tigers since coming over from Miami, and will be facing a New York team that he has pitched against only one other time in his career. Sanchez tossed 5.2 shutout innings against the Yankees as a rookie in 2006, but has yet to face the Bronx Bombers since due to being in the National League.

Opposing Sanchez on Wednesday from Comerica Park will be New York's burly ace, CC Sabathia, who is in search of his 12th win of the season. The 6-foot-7, 290-pounder is 2-0 against Detroit this year with 13 strikeouts in 15 innings, and looks poised for a strong finish to the season after tossing a complete game three-hitter against Seattle last week.
