On Friday night, 12 basketball legends will be inducted into The Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall Of Fame. The list includes Don Nelson (the head coach with the most wins in NBA history), Indiana Pacers all-time leading scorer Reggie Miller, NCAA great Ralph Sampson, Nike chairman Phil Knight, African-American basketball pioneer Don Barksdale and many other accomplished contributors.
Detroit-native Mel Daniels is a local legend headed to the Hall of Fame. Daniels was a seven-time ABA All-Star and two-time ABA MVP (in 1968-69 and '70-71) who averaged 18.4 points and 14.9 rebounds per game over nine professional seasons.
