Grand Rapids Griffins To Play Game At Yost Arena

The Grand Rapids Griffins and the Lake Erie Monsters of the American Hockey League announced a pair of neutral-site preseason games on Friday, with one set to be played at Yost Arena, home of the Michigan Wolverines hockey team.

The Griffins, the AHL affiliate of the Red Wings, will take on the Monsters, the AHL affiliate of the Colorado Avalanche, on Oct. 6 in Toledo, Ohio before heading to the University of Michigan for a game on Oct. 7.

Yost Arena is freshly renovated after the University of Michigan spent $14 million on the arena that included the removal of about 400 seats to drop the capacity to 5,800, but the addition of more premium seating as well as other stylistic changes.

The pair of games will be the first preseason games for the Griffins since prior to the 2005-06 season. The game at Yost Arena is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. ET.
