The Detroit Tigers have announced via the official Twitter account of Media Relations Director Brian Britten that the team's game against the Chicago White Sox on Sunday, Sept. 2, has been rescheduled from 1:05 p.m. ET to 8:05 p.m. ET.

The time change is due to ESPN making the contest the Sunday Night Baseball Game of the Week. Originally scheduled to air locally on Fox Sports Detroit, the game will now appear nationally on ESPN 2.

With the Tigers and White Sox separated by only 2.5 games for sole possession of first place in the American League Central, it's clear that ESPN was looking to capture a game with potential playoff ramifications.

The game will close out the second-to-last series between the two rivals and will be the final time Chicago travels to Detroit during the regular season.

Singh finished his second day with a 3-under par after an impressive front-nine helped propel him to the score.

Tiger Woods is currently tied for ninth with a 3-under par (he sits at even for the day in Round 2 after one hole).

The Detroit Tigers will begin a three-game set against the Texas Rangers on Friday night.

On Friday night, the Detroit Tigers will open a three-game weekend set against the Texas Rangers when the club travels to Arlington to challenge the American League West leader.

Since the start of August, the Tigers have been on fire, winning six consecutive games prior to dropping their two most recent ones against the New York Yankees. Detroit currently sits one game back of the Chicago White Sox for first place in the American League's Central Division and will undoubtedly be looking to make the jump into the top spot this weekend.

Texas has hovered around the top of the league all year and currently holds a five-game lead over the Oakland Athletics in the West. The Rangers have also won six of eight in August and are currently on a two-game winning streak.

The projected starters for Friday night are Max Scherzer for the Tigers (10-6, 4.72 ERA) and Scott Feldman for the Rangers (6-6, 4.52 ERA).

On Wednesday, Michigan State wide receiver Aaron Burbridge missed practice with an undisclosed injury. Spartans head coach Mark Dantonio was willing to admit that the true freshman had sustained an injury but was unwilling to divulge any information other than that.

"Well, yes, I guess that would be one them," Dantonio said. "I'm not going to talk about injuries. I think it sets a precedent on how we're going to address other people and I just don't want to do that."

Burbridge was the No. 1 ranked recruit coming out of the state of Michigan in 2012 and was a key addition to a Spartans wide receiving corps that lost its top receivers to graduation.

The Detroit Lions have sold out Friday night's preseason game against the Cleveland Browns.

On Wednesday, the Detroit Lions announced that the team has officially reached a sellout for Friday night's preseason opener against the Cleveland Browns at Ford Field.

This will mark the second time in as many seasons that the Lions will be playing a preseason game at home in front of a sold-out crowd. Last preseason, the Lions' game against the New England Patriots also hit sellout status.

While the majority of starters are not expected to have an extended role, head coach Jim Schwartz values the experience that the game will bring.

"Everybody gets something out of playing," Schwartz said. Number one, trying to win the game. You want to go out and perform well individually, you want to perform well as a team, and try to win the game. That's always our number one goal. We're not going out there only working on our curve ball. It's not spring training. We're out there to execute."

On Tuesday, DeWitt native Jordyn Wieber and her coach John Geddert tried to be as respectful to the other competitors in the 2012 Olympic Games as they possibly could in explaining that Wieber's individual performance was hampered by an injury to her right leg.

Via the Lansing State Journal:

"You've seen her in the past," Geddert, owner of Twistars USA Gymnastics Club in Dimondale, said of his prize pupil. "She didn't look anything like she has looked in the past. Not because she stopped training, she just had a little bit of limitations. I'm not making excuses, folks, I don't want to get into that. It is what it is. There's some great champions out there and I don't want to draw away from their accomplishments."

According to team physician (and Michigan State team doctor) Dr. Larry Nasser, he believes that Wieber has a stress fracture in her right fibula that will require the 17-year-old to wear a walking boot for the rest of the week before returning to the United States to be properly evaluated.

The injury reportedly started bothering her during the Olympic trials back in July and forced Geddert to modify her training regimen.

This will be the first time since 1989 that the Spartans have played at Jenison Field House.

On Dec. 14, MSU will host a reunion game, while the men's team will host Tuskegee University on Dec. 15 and the women's team will wrap up the event on Dec. 16 when they take-on IPFW.

"Since Jenison Field House first opened in 1940, it has been the site of memories for nearly every Spartan," said Michigan State Athletics Director Mark Hollis. "For me, and many others, the most vivid memories are the games when Earvin Johnson led the Spartans to the 1979 NCAA Championship. But before that, 50 years ago this season, it was the site of a historic NCAA Tournament game between Loyola and Mississippi State. It was called "The Game of Change" and many are unaware that the game was played in East Lansing at Jenison Field House. Since Spartan basketball left Jenison, many have dreamed of seeing it return for a game. The celebration of one of the great historical events in Field House history generated the desire to make these dreams come true during the 2012-2013 season.
