The Detroit Lions need to sell 4,500 tickets for Sunday's game to reach sellout status and have a potential blackout lifted.
The deadline to reach a sellout is 1 p.m. on Thursday, but if the team believes it can reach a sellout, a 24-hour extension can be requested. Usually extensions only happen when the NFL is confident that the team will reach a sellout, so it will be interesting to see what happens with the Lions considering they are 4,500 tickets away from lifting the blackout.
If the Lions do end up selling out Sunday's game, fans can thank Kid Rock for helping lift the blackout.
The Detroit Lions and music icon, Kid Rock, have partnered to donate 500 tickets to the National Guard and the Paralyzed Veterans Association for this Sunday’s game vs. the St. Louis Rams at Ford Field.
"We are thrilled and honored to partner with Kid Rock in this promotion that allows us both to say thanks to those men and women who have served and sacrificed for our country," Lions President Tom Lewand said.
News of whether or not Sunday's game will be blacked out or if an extension will be granted should be out sometime after noon on Thursday.
