Jahvid Best Injury: Lions Don't Have Update On Status

The Detroit Lions definitely missed running back Jahvid Best on Sunday in a loss to the Atlanta Falcons. Maurice Morris and Keiland Williams combined for 94 yards together rushing, but neither was much of a factor in the passing game. Best has always been the kind of player who threatens defenses in a number of ways, and that versatility was absent in the 23-16 loss.

Best missed the game after suffering a concussion against the San Francisco 49ers, his second concussion in three months. In speaking with the media on Monday, head coach Jim Schwartz had updates regarding the teams' injury situations, most notably Matthew Stafford's ankle injury, but also had a bit about Best's concussion and status for next week's game against the Denver Broncos, according to the Detroit Free Press:

Schwartz on Best: "We don't have any update on Jahvid yet. .. I don't think we consider him anything more than day to day at this time."

Day-to-day is not entirely unlike his "questionable" status last week. It's unclear as to whether or not Best took the concussion tests before Sunday's game against the Falcons or if he knew he'd be out regardless, but he'll have to pass them before being cleared. More than that, he'll have to feel comfortable playing again after his second concussion this year.
