Petition Doesn't Work, Nickelback Will Perform At Thanksgiving

New, 1 comment

Despite a valiant petition with over 52,000 e-signatures attempting to prevent the Canadian band from performing at halftime of the Thanksgiving Day game between the Lions/Packers, Nickelback's show will go on as originally, ill-advisedly planned [via Detroit News]:

Nickelback has been confirmed to perform at the Thanksgiving Day Detroit Lions game at Ford Field, the NFL and the United Way announced in a joint press release Thursday afternoon. [...]

"We are honored to perform at the United Way halftime show on Thanksgiving Day," Nickelback lead singer Chad Kroeger said in a statement. "We always love playing in Detroit, our fans there have been tremendously supportive of us through the years and we can't wait to come back and celebrate an exciting day for the Lions and the city of Detroit."

The show is now less than two weeks away, so it's safe to say that if the petition didn't do its job up to this point, it won't be able to change anything now. Get ready for some raspy voices and plenty of boo birds, Detroit.
