Jahvid Best Injury Update: Lions RB Needs To Be Symptom Free To Practice, Play

Though there is no official update to Detroit Lions running back Jahvid Best and his status going forward, head coach Jim Schwartz did speak to what it would take for the feature back to return to the practice field and eventually, a game. Dave Birkett has the quote on Twitter:

On Best: "We're status quo with that. He needs to be symptom free" before he comes back ... "made a few different stops" w/specialists

For a concussion, this is always the right move to make. If you have a player experiencing soreness following some kind of injury, he can test it and maybe get limited playing time, but when it comes down to a concussion, teams take as many cautionary steps as possible. With this being Best's second concussion this year, it makes even more sense.

Even if he isn't experiencing symptoms anymore, Best might be sitting out another game. The stops with specialists can either allude to the fact that he's still experiencing symptoms and he's seeking advice, or perhaps he wants to learn more about the dangers of another potential head injury - three in one year. Either way, his status going forward is up in the air.
