Matthew Stafford, Kevin Smith Nominated For Weekly NFL Awards For Lions' Win Over Panthers

With another big win, the Detroit Lions have moved right back into the discussion in regards to being "the team" that can hand the Green Bay Packers their first loss. That game is just two days away, on Thanksgiving Day, and the Lions are back into consideration after a high-flying offensive showing against the Carolina Panthers. Detroit, once again, cut their teeth on coming back from down big and winning in the final minutes.

That win in the final minutes came because of two key contributors: quarterback Matthew Stafford and running back Kevin Smith. In just his second game since being signed off of the street in the wake of a continued injury to Jahvid Best, Smith lit up Carolina for 140 yards and two touchdowns with an 8.8 yards per carry. He's being nominated for the Fed Ex Ground Player of the Week, up against Ray Rice and Chris Ogbonnaya. Stafford had five touchdowns and 300+ yards in the 49-35 win, and is being nominated for the Fed Ex Air Player of the Week and the GMC Never Say Never Moment of the Week.
