Christmas Eve could be quite the day for the Detroit Lions. Not only could they pick up their 10th win of the season, which would be their most since 1995, but they could also clinch a spot in the playoffs in the process. With the Lions two games ahead of the other teams still in contention for a wild-card spot, all they need is one win in the next two weeks to clinch their first trip to the playoffs since 1999.
Both the Lions and their fans are hoping that a playoff spot is clinched with a win at home on Saturday afternoon. The San Diego Chargers are coming to town for the Christmas Eve game, and I can't think of many early Christmas presents that would be better than the Lions clinching a playoff spot at Ford Field.
To clinch a spot, the Lions will have to get by the Chargers, which have been playing quite well as of late. They have won three games in a row, and none of them have even been close. This comes after San Diego lost six straight games after opening the season with a 4-1 record. It has been a very up and down season for the Chargers, and they are looking to keep it on the upswing with a win on Saturday against the Lions.
Kickoff for the Christmas Eve game is set for 4:05 p.m. (Eastern Time). CBS will have the broadcast.
