Week 16 NFL Power Rankings: Fox Sports Moves Lions Into Top Ten

The Detroit Lions picked up a big win over the Oakland Raiders on Sunday, mounting a huge comeback once again, with quarterback Matthew Stafford leading the way. They're now in a great position, needing just one win in their next two games to punch their ticket into the 2012 NFL Playoffs, but they probably can't cut their teeth on making 13+ point comebacks once they reach the playoffs. Either way, the Lions are mostly trending upward in the weekly power rankings.

Fox Sports jumps the Lions up two spots in their Week 16 NFL Power Rankings:

9. The Lions' inability to run the ball is eventually going to catch up with them, and they must find someone opposite star WR Calvin Johnson in the passing game. I thought it would be TE Brandon Pettigrew, but he seems to have just as many drops as he does big plays. They also need to get healthy in the defensive secondary, or they will struggle against the Packers and Saints in the playoffs.

That's up two spots from last week's spot of No. 11, and the Lions are once again in the top ten. They were in the top five earlier this season after staring 5-0, and it's definitely where the Lions want to be at this point in the season.
