Pro Bowl Rosters 2012: Only Calvin Johnson Makes NFC Squad For Lions

Wide receiver Calvin Johnson was the only Detroit Lions player named to the 2012 NFL Pro Bowl. The rosters for the Pro Bowl were announced on Tuesday night, and Johnson's selection means he is slated to go to Hawaii for the game for the second year in a row.

Johnson was the only Lion to make the team because guys like Matthew Stafford and Ndamukong Suh were edged out by other players. Stafford being left off the team is especially surprising considering Eli Manning was selected as the third quarterback on the NFC. Stafford seems more deserving than him, but I suppose the same can be said about a lot of players not on the team every year.

The good news for Stafford and Suh is that they have been named alternates for the Pro Bowl, as has Louis Delmas. If players at their positions can't go to the game, they will step in as replacements as long as the Lions aren't in the Super Bowl. If that were to happen, somebody at receiver would need to be called upon to replace Johnson.
