Fantasy football owners have been frustrated the past few weeks by the unsettled situation with the Detroit Lions backfield. But this week the situation became more clear-cut when Jahvid Best was placed on IR ending his season along with the ongoing speculation of when he might return after suffering two concussions earlier in the season.
Fantasy owners holding out hope for Best to return finally let go this week, moving Best to the top of ESPN's Most Dropped Players list for fantasy football with Best now only on a team in 69.2% of the leagues on ESPN, a drop of 22.9%.
Not far down the dropped list at number five is Kevin Smith, Best's backup who appeared ready to hold down the running game after a huge game agaist Carolina, but a right ankle injury last week sent owners running with Smith in only 66.4% of ESPN's leagues, a drop of 12.9%. That may have been a premature decision since Smith expects to play on the ankle against New Orleans on Sunday night.
With the other running backs in flux, Fantasy journeyman Maurice Morris rose to number two on the Most Added Players list where he is now found on a roster in 50.5% of ESPN's fantasy leagues, up 17.9% over last week.
Other Detroit players among the top 25 added or dropped players includes kicker Jason Hanson checking in at number 11 on the Most Dropped List where he in now on rosters in 80.7% of the leagues, down -6.9%.
