Calvin Johnson Fantasy Projection, Week 13

Detroit Lions wide receiver Calvin Johnson remains a must-start for fantasy owners as the Lions travel to take on the New Orleans Saints in the Superdome on Sunday night.

Johnson will need to pull his weight for the Detroit offense which will be without running back Jahvid Best. Kevin Smith will try to play through an ankle injury to bolster the running attack, but  quarterback Matthew Stafford will likely be looking to throw the ball to keep Detroit moving up and down the field.

Johnson's fantasy production has cooled of late as the Lions have gone 1-2 in their last three games and that may be why the Numberfire.com projection for Johnson this week seem a bit conservative. Numberfire expects Johnson to catch 6.28 passes for 89.99 yards and 0.63 TDs.

Considering New Orleans ranks 26th in the NFL in passing defense, Detroit should be looking to expose that advantage which, of course means heavy doses of Calvin Johnson.
