The Detroit Lions have certainly donated their fair share to charity this season as they continue to rack up fines from the NFL league office. The team was fined a total of $37,500 after their game against the Chicago Bears earlier this season and have now been finished $40,000 for actions during their game against the New Orleans Saints on Sunday night
Brandon Pettigrew apologized earlier in the week after shoving an official during a particularly tense portion of the Saints game, but that apparently didn't deter the league from handing out a rather large large fine. The league also announced fine to Nate Burleson and Stefan Logan on Friday for the reasons below.
- Burleson was fined $7,500 for unnecessary roughness. He grabbed an opponent by the facemask.
- Pettigrew was fined $25,000 for violating league rules prohibiting abusive conduct toward game officials.
- Logan was fined $7,500 for unsportsmanlike conduct.
The Lions will play the Minnesota Vikings this week as they look to put the Saints games -- and their transgressions -- behind them.
