Brandon Pettigrew Among Detroit Lions Players Fined On Friday

The Detroit Lions have certainly donated their fair share to charity this season as they continue to rack up fines from the NFL league office. The team was fined a total of $37,500 after their game against the Chicago Bears earlier this season and have now been finished $40,000 for actions during their game against the New Orleans Saints on Sunday night

Brandon Pettigrew apologized earlier in the week after shoving an official during a particularly tense portion of the Saints game, but that apparently didn't deter the league from handing out a rather large large fine. The league also announced fine to Nate Burleson and Stefan Logan on Friday for the reasons below.

  • Burleson was fined $7,500 for unnecessary roughness. He grabbed an opponent by the facemask.
  • Pettigrew was fined $25,000 for violating league rules prohibiting abusive conduct toward game officials.
  • Logan was fined $7,500 for unsportsmanlike conduct.

The Lions will play the Minnesota Vikings this week as they look to put the Saints games -- and their transgressions -- behind them.
