More and more NFL draft analysts seem to be dropping Nebraska cornerback Prince Amukamara to the Detroit Lions. For months Amukamara was viewed as a guy that would go in the top 10, but now many believe he could fall to the Lions at No. 13.
SBNation.com doesn't think that will happen, at least not yet. In its most recent 2011 NFL mock draft, SB Nation still has the Lions selecting Boston College offensive tackle Anthony Castonzo.
Here is the reasoning for saying the Lions will opt to build for the future at offensive tackle:
Detroit's in great position this year - either they'll be able to fill a need with a quality prospect, or some big-name, big-talent player will fall directly into its lap. They get the former in Castonzo; protecting Matthew Stafford is a huge priority.
One of the "big-name, big-talent" players that the Lions are hoping will fall is Amukamara, who is slotted to go seventh to the 49ers in SB Nation's mock draft. Another player that could potentially fall to the Lions is Da'Quan Bowers, but SB Nation has the Vikings taking him with the 12th pick.
