Earlier this week SB Nation released a two-round 2011 NFL mock draft. The Detroit Lions' first-round pick remains unchanged from previous SB Nation mocks, as they are predicted to select Boston College offensive tackle Anthony Castonzo. Despite it seeming more and more like the Lions will go in a direction other than OT, SB Nation is sticking with its prediction that the Lions will go with Castonzo.
In the second round, the Lions are predicted to select Louisville cornerback Johnny Patrick. The reasoning for this prediction is simple: "Cornerback is Detroit's most obvious pressing need, and Patrick has rock solid Round 2 value."
I agree with the notion that cornerback is the Lions' biggest need. Linebacker is right up there, but with the uncertainty over whether or not Chris Houston will be an unrestricted or restricted free agent (it depends on the new CBA) and over whether or not he would re-sign with the Lions if he is unrestricted, a big need exists for cornerback depth. I could certainly see them going in this direction in the second if they can't get Prince Amukamara in the first.
