Calvin Johnson Ranked 27th In NFL's Top 100 Players Of 2011

NFL Network continued its series that ranks the top 100 NFL players of 2011 on Sunday. This edition of the show looked at the players in the 20s, and it was revealed that Detroit Lions wide receiver Calvin Johnson was ranked 27th.

Johnson had Lions head coach Jim Schwartz presenting him for his segment on the show. Here is a look at what Schwartz had to say about Johnson:

Lions head coach Jim Schwartz presented Johnson and said there aren't many players like him. Johnson has size, speed and athletic ability. The combination of all of those things for one player is "surreal" in Schwartz' mind. Schwartz also said, "Even when (Johnson) is covered, he's still open. The defensive back can be in perfect position and Calvin will take the ball right off his head."

The other Lions player in the top 100, which was voted on by the players, is defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh. He was ranked 51st, and in my opinion both him and Johnson were a bit underrated, but I suppose that is to be expected for now considering they play for the Lions. Perhaps if the Lions have a solid 2011 season both players will jump up the list next year and be joined by some of their teammates.
