Forbes recently released its annual list of the most valuable sports teams from around the world. The list is based on what teams are valued at by Forbes, so the numbers may not be 100 percent accurate, but they're generally pretty close.
↵Just like last year, the Detroit Lions are ranked 36th on the list. A year ago the team was valued at $867 million and this year that number has dropped down to $817 million. Despite that being a difference in value of $50 million, the Lions didn't move at all on the overall list of the most valuable teams.
↵If you break down the list by NFL teams, the Lions actually moved up a spot from last year's rankings. The team was 28th in the NFL in 2010, but this year the Lions are 27th. They are ranked ahead of the Buffalo Bills, St. Louis Rams, Minnesota Vikings, Oakland Raiders and Jacksonville Jaguars.
↵Also like last year, the Lions are the only Detroit team ranked in the top 50.
