The Detroit Lions are currently en route to Cleveland to get ready for their game on Friday against the Browns. Just like last week's preseason opener against the Bengals, the Lions are going into Cleveland with several players already ruled out for Friday's game.
Lions head coach Jim Schwartz officially ruled out four players for the Browns game: tight end Tony Scheffler (he just got stitches in his hand), offensive tackle Jeff Backus, offensive tackle Jason Fox and defensive tackle Nick Fairley.
Schwartz said that cornerbacks Eric Wright and Chris Houston and safety John Wendling are game-time decisions for Friday night. Schwartz wants to see how things go in warm-ups before declaring them out.
Also likely out are running back Maurice Morris, wide receiver Titus Young, defense tackle Andre Fluellen and cornerback Alphonso Smith. None of these players have practiced recently, so chances are they won't play on Friday when the Lions hit the field for their second game of the preseason.
