Three Detroit Lions players have been released as the team continues cutting its roster to get down to 53 players. They are offensive linemen Rudy Niswanger and Donald Thomas and cornerback Prince Miller.
Niswanger and Thomas both played multiple positions on the O-line during training camp and the preseason and were looking to make the team as a backup guard. Neither has found a spot on the roster, though. It's more likely that Dylan Gandy will once again be on the 53-man roster as the backup utility lineman.
Miller was quite a ways down on the depth chart at cornerback. Like Paul Pratt, who was released on Saturday as well, he didn't have a very good chance of making the roster, so this move is no surprise.
It does not appear that Miller will be signed to the practice squad. Earlier it was reported that Pratt will be on the practice squad if he clears waivers.
