2012 NFL Mock Draft: SB Nation's Post Combine Draft Gives Stephon Gilmore To Lions

The NFL Combine shakes up things every year on the mock draft circuit, and obviously with 2012's NFL Combine finished, it's no different. The top section of most drafts has been unchanged -- Andrew Luck is still going to the Indianapolis Colts, someone is trading up for Robert Griffin III and the Minnesota Vikings are taking Matt Kalil -- but the lower section is absolutely jumbled, including where the Detroit Lions' 23rd overall pick is.

With a trend recently of offensive linemen and occasionally defensive linemen going to the Lions in almost every mock draft, it's refreshing to see something different post combine, which is what the new SB Nation 2012 NFL Mock Draft gives us. They have the Lions going for South Carolina CB Stephon Gilmore to shore up their secondary, a forgotten part of the team with so many OL going into free agency along with Cliff Avril.

Gilmore gave his draft stock a big boost at the Combine, showing off the kind of speed prized among cornerbacks. The Lions could certainly use some help in that department. With a limited budget and more pressing matters, like re-signing Stephen Tulloch, Detroit is unlikely to make a play for Cortland Finnegan.

Combine or not, there's still plenty of ways that the Lions could go with this selection so expect to see more and more names come into the conversation as we inch closer to April.
