The Detroit Lions came to terms with former Indianapolis Colts cornerback Jacob Lacey on Tuesday, but also hosted a potential draft pick in Alabama cornerback Dre Kirkpatrick. Kirkpatrick is a top cornerback in the draft this year and the Lions would probably be foolish to pass up on him if he falls to No. 23 where the Lions pick.
Kirkpatrick sounds genuinely excited about the prospect of playing with the Lions, too:
"I’d fit in great" as a Lion, Kirkpatrick said today. "I’d be hugging big (Ndamukong) Suh and Nick (Fairley) every day, because those are the guys that are going to put the pressure and make me look good as I am and make life easy. It’ll be easy to roll the dice."
Kirkpatrick didn't have an interception during his junior season with Alabama, but he did have a touchdown and had three interceptions his sophomore season.
As of now, the Lions have five cornerbacks on their roster: Lancey, Chris Houston, Aaron Berry, Alphonso Smith and Don Carey.
