2012 NFL Mock Draft: SB Nation Has Detroit Taking Janoris Jenkins

Stop me if you've heard this one before: Cornerback is one of the biggest positions of need for the Detroit Lions, so they're being projected to take Alabama CB Janoris Jenkins by the new SB Nation 2012 NFL Mock Draft. As usual, the questions with Jenkins all involve his off the field issues, but the sheer talent that Jenkins would bring to the football field usually seems to trump any questions about that.

The Lions have options with this pick. While depth on the offensive line would be useful, in this imagined reality they take a chance on a first-round talent with a pile of personal issues. If they can keep Jenkins focused on the game, he should pay off well.

They did manage to get Ndamukong Suh to work out as a fantastic defensive player despite his issues, at least mostly. There are, of course, plenty of other options for the Lions with that pick if they end up deciding that Jenkins is just too much of a risk. Plenty of solid offensive lineman dot the draft at that point as well as perhaps someone like Stephon Gilmore if they really want a CB.

Free agency is still going strong as well so that could continue to shape the draft a bit if the Lions pick up a guy or two that they like in the secondary.
