While it's been somewhat difficult to gauge how the Detroit Lions will approach the 2012 NFL Draft, the various mocks around the web have had a couple players appear more often than naught. We still see mocks with the Lions taking different defensive linemen here and there, but for the most part, you'll find them selecting a quarterback or an offensive tackle.
Don Banks of SI.com elected to go for the latter in his Mock Draft 6.0, and has went with the Lions taking Mike Adams, an offensive tackle out of Ohio State:
I actually love Peter King's scenario in his mock for Sports Illustrated, because he has the Lions trading down and out of this spot, with Baltimore coming up from No. 29 to get Alabama inside linebacker Dont'a Hightower. I could definitely see that move happening, especially if all the first-round cornerbacks and first-round offensive tackles are gone by the time 23 rolls around. But for now, Adams remains available and the Lions offensive line needs some youth.
The other "popular" selection for the Lions is cornerback Janoris Jenkins, but Banks is going with the offense, and it makes sense. Detroit's offense is really good, almost keeping up with the New Orleans Saints in a shootout, but that all falls apart if Matthew Stafford gets injured again. Stafford has missed stretches of time here and there, and definitely could use the support of a strong tackle.
