2012 NFL Draft: Potential Lions Target Mike Adams Tests Positive For Marijuana At Combine

Here's news that sports fans in the Detroit area are familiar with hearing: a player recently tested positive for marijuana! It's happened a lot recently, with Derrick Nix of Michigan State, among others, but now an interesting connection has been made with a Detroit sports team and another athlete who's been busted: Ohio State offensive lineman Mike Adams.

Adams tested positive for marijuana at the NFL combine in February, according to a Tweet from Jason La Canfora of the NFL Network:

Why is this pertinent to Detroit? Because Adams has been a frequent pick in various mock drafts around the Internet for the Detroit Lions. It's pertinent because this could hurt Adams' stock further and send him out of the first round. Some scouts already considered him a fringe first rounder, with the Lions mostly being the first team to bite early in the first.

On Wednesday, Don Banks of Sports Illustrated released his Mock Draft 6.0 and actually had Adams going to the Lions, citing a protection need for Matthew Stafford. Outside of Adams or another tackle, the most-mocked pick for the Lions has been a defensive back. Adams wouldn't be the first player to ever get picked in the first round after a positive test if the Lions do elect to take him, though it's anybody's guess how this will affect Adams' draft stock.
