After suffering a season-ending concussion in week six against San Francisco, the future of Detroit Lions running back Jahvid Best has been a complete question mark in the early stages of the offseason.
But even as fans and coaches alike continue to raise concerns over his durability, Best has reportedly not been limited by Detroit's offseason conditioning program, which is a great sign for the undersized runner.
Lions head coach Jim Schwartz confirmed as much on Saturday at a local event in Livonia, commenting that his speedy tailback is "doing the same things everybody else is doing."
With Mikel Leshoure's recent arrest for marijuana, the running back position appears once again to be wide open in Motown. Best's small frame and inability to avoid contact will make him a continuous injury concern whenever he steps on the field, but there's no denying the type of playmaking ability that he brings to the table. Knowing how concussion symptoms can often linger long after the initial contact, it's a promising sign that Best is taking part in off-season conditioning drills alongside his teammates with no reported issues.
