2012 NFL Draft Results: Ryan Broyles Goes To Lions With No. 54 Overall Pick In Second Round

With the 54th pick in the 2012 NFL Draft, the Detroit Lions have selected Ryan Broyles, a wide receiver from the Oklahoma Sooners. These NFL Draft 2012 results go against the projection for Broyles, who was seen as a likely third or fourth round pick, mainly because of a torn ACL he suffered in November.

Broyles has battled his way back from injury and showed scouts that he was fully healthy at a Pro Day in April. At 5-10 and 198 pounds, he also has had to deal with questions about his size. But there's no question about his ability to catch the ball. Broyles is the NCAA's all-time leader in receptions, compiling 349 in his career.

The Lions' next pick is the No. 85 overall pick in the third round. Picking a wide receiver became a running joke when Matt Millen was in charge of the team in the last decade, but with one of the best offenses in the league last season, many thought the Lions would try to upgrade the defense with their early picks. Now Matthew Stafford will have another weapon at his disposal on offense.
