With the 148th pick in the 2012 NFL Draft, the Detroit Lions have selected Chris Greenwood -- a 6-foot-1 cornerback from Albion College in Albion, Mich., a Divison III school. It's a bit of a homecoming for Greenwood, who played high school football at Detroit King and college ball briefly at Eastern Michigan.
He was projected as a fourth or fifth round pick, but slipped, slightly, to the Lions, who took him with the 13th pick in the fifth round. Greenwood's stock had risen in the weeks leading up to the weekend's draft, especially after running a 4.42 in the 40-yard-dash during Michigan's Pro Day. He had also impressed scouts during the East-West Shrine Game.
That speed should help him make some sort of an impact for the Lions -- either as another corner or on special teams.
