2012 NFL Draft Results: Detroit Lions Select Jonte Green In The Sixth Round

With the 196th pick in the 2012 NFL Draft, the Detroit Lions have selected New Mexico State defensive back Jonte Green. At 6-feet and 184 pounds, Green primarily played cornerback for the Aggies last season, intercepting two passes and recording 70 total tackles, as well. This is about where most scouts had him going.

Green's speed could prove to be an asset for Detroit's secondary. At New Mexico's Pro Day in mid-March, the Saint Petersburg, Fla., native ran a 4.41 in the 40-yard dash. His size, though, could be an issue. He has a smaller frame is probably closer to 5-foot-11 than 6-feet. But he has also been improving, consistently. His two interceptions from last season came in the final two games and he played some of his best football during the latter portion of the year.
